Green and Blue Gym space in your home

Have you heard about the quiet luxury fashion trend? Well, it’s not only a fashion trend. This year will see a lot of that quiet luxury vibe in interiors as well. In 2023, we finally started to feel some relief from the pandemic, everything was about going out, traveling, socializing and feeling “free”. In 2024, we’re chasing the opposite: building a life that we don't have to escape from… and that includes your home!

That’s where a quiet luxury style comes in. In a world filled with noise and chaos, this design style invites a sense of calm and understated elegance into our homes.

Good news: you don't have to redo your entire home to layer in this trend. Here are some key adjustments you can easily do on your own:

  • Soft Color Palettes: Embrace muted tones and neutral hues that create a serene backdrop. Think soft grays, muted blues, and gentle earthy tones to set a tranquil atmosphere.

  • Plush Textures: Try luxurious textures like velvets, silks, and cashmere. These materials not only elevate the tactile experience but also add a touch of opulence to your spaces.

  • Natural Elements: Integrate natural elements seamlessly. Embrace wooden finishes, stone accents, and indoor greenery to bring the soothing essence of nature indoors.

  • Subtle Accents of Opulence: Instead of bold statements, opt for subtle accents that exude luxury. Think delicate gold or silver details, fine art pieces, or intricately designed decor items.

  • Flow and Simplicity: Prioritize a sense of flow and simplicity in your design. Declutter spaces, choose streamlined furniture, and allow a seamless movement from one area to another.

Quiet luxury design isn't about excess; it's about curated refinement that creates an oasis in its simplicity.

Good Interior Design is about beauty.
Great Interior Design is about lifestyle.

- Amy Rebekah, Interior Designer

Investing in interior design for your home is not only about aesthetics, it's a lifestyle investment. That’s why when you're intentional with your home decor, you improve your quality of life and well-being. And I know that sounds like an impossible task, but it doesn't have to be. Here are some of my favorite ways to make your home a better place to live better:

  • Calm Corners: Think… dedicated spaces for relaxation. I'm not talking about a yoga room, although if that’s your jam it could be! There’s not one right answer for what’s calming. Ask yourself “What makes me happy?”. Whether it's a cozy reading nook, a spa room, or a corner to make art - create a space that invites tranquility.

  • Daily Ritual Stations: Do you have that one thing you do everyday no matter what? Well, this is your chance to embrace your daily rituals by designing areas that make them easier. Consider a coffee station in the kitchen with your favorite mugs and a selection of calming teas. Or, create a nook where you can sit and write your daily journal. If you don’t have a lot of space, a bar cart or console table is a great place to incorporate little nooks without needing a whole lot of space.

  • Natural scents: Think back to when you walked into your last luxurious hotel room and how they used the sense of smell to add to the experience. Since smell is the most powerful of our senses, stimulating it with the right scents will obviously make a big impact in our mood. Rosemary and lavender are great for relaxation; cinnamon and vanilla are great for creating a warm environment; and cedarwood and frankincense add elegance to your home. Using candles and diffusers that blend in with your accessories make it easy to layer these smells in your home.

Remember, the goal is to create a space that nurtures your mind, body, and spirit. Tailor these tips to your preferences, and let your home be a reflection of your commitment to well-being.

Reader’s Question: I’m noticing that not all the bulbs in my house are the same color. Is this a problem?! And, how do I know what’s the right bulb to get?
