Halloween Decor for 2024

This season, the hottest trend is not following trends! Instead of feeling pressured to completely revamp your space with every passing fad, the real secret to a stylish home is curating your own holiday vibe that reflects who you are.

Trends can be tempting—especially during the holiday season with Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas just around the corner—but they’re not one-size-fits-all. Rather than chasing what’s “hot,” focus on blending the latest looks with your personal style to create a space that feels authentic.

Here’s how to keep your home festive without losing your unique touch:

  • Be Selective with Colors: Not every seasonal palette fits every home. Choose hues that complement your existing décor while giving it a festive twist.

  • Mix Old with New: Trends may come and go, but your cherished items tell a timeless story. Incorporate meaningful pieces like family heirlooms alongside modern finds to create a more personal touch. What if you use your grandmother's classic tablecloth with trendy dishware to create a memorable Thanksgiving tablescape.

  • Add Personal Touches: Your home should reflect your individuality, so include items that hold sentimental value. Create a space that feels warm and inviting by adding personal mementos.

What's really trending? Spaces that feel personal, meaningful, and, most importantly, true to you. By blending the best of today’s looks with your own flair, you’ll create a holiday vibe that stands the test of time.

Just like rules, trends are meant to be broken.

Ever wonder what gives a designer home that extra something? It’s in the details. And lucky for you, I have one fool proof way to instantly make your space look like you consulted a designer.

One of the easiest ways to elevate your space is by painting your walls and trim the same color. Yes, you read that right—same color for both! Whether you’re working with a soft neutral, a bold statement shade, or even a moody dark tone, this trick creates a seamless, cohesive look that feels polished and intentional.

Painting Walls and Trim the same color

When you paint your trim the same color as your walls, the room’s features become more about shape and less about contrasting lines. It allows the space to breathe, creating a modern, high-end vibe while still feeling inviting. The eye isn’t distracted by sharp edges or color breaks, so you’ll notice how everything flows together beautifully.

Plus, this approach works with any style—whether your home leans classic or contemporary. And don’t be afraid to try this with deeper colors. It can add drama and coziness all at once, making the room feel intimate and stylish, without overcomplicating the design.

If you're nervous about losing definition between the walls and trim, there's an easy fix—play with finishes! By using different sheens, you can create a subtle contrast that adds interest without breaking the color harmony. For example, pair a matte or eggshell finish on the walls with a semi-gloss trim. This not only gives your trim a little extra durability (perfect for areas like doors and baseboards) but also adds a gentle sheen that reflects light, subtly highlighting architectural details like crown molding or window frames.

This small difference in texture is enough to create depth and definition without overpowering the room. It’s the perfect solution for those who want the polished designer look but still crave a little visual separation.

Bonus Tip: Satin and semi-gloss finishes are also easier to clean, making them practical choices for high-traffic areas like hallways, kitchens, and kids’ rooms, where durability is just as important as style!
